Jimmy not long after you left the owner of the horses appeared on the seen, Phil seems to know him quite well and went over to chat to him. I thought it might be a good idea to meet the guy, so toddled over to meet him myself. Andy, the owner of the horses, is actually a really nice guy and very approachable. He is happy with northfaces fences and has taken all his horses from the lakeside( apart from the two young horses, which are too young to go in with the others) and he is quite amenably to working with anglers ideas. He does have the right to graze his horses around the lake. But overall it seems a reasonable trade off, as it keeps the grass trimmed and he does a good job of policing the place and as a bailiff has looked after the fishing pretty well. This includes trying to stop fish thefts and stopping what sound like all night parties on the venue which included members and non members swimming, shouting and drunk at 2am in the morning. He's a great asset to have at the place and a pleasure to meet. Let's report back to Leeds, see if we can get some materials and organise some work parties and sort some of the muddy spots out. Now two thirds of the lake are out of bounds to the horses, progress is being made!

don't get me wrong it looks a very nice place as Jimmy says, but with the amount of people that turned up doesn't that tell you something.
all the discussion and opinions on this forum and only a few turned up to see what could be done or sorted out, if that's what`s been a club member is weather fishing or not I`m ashamed to be a member. I`ve not fished it in over 20 years as I`ve not been a member since then, but to be back as a Leeds member and want to know what`s going on and how to help and to try to fish all Leeds water`s that I have paid for.
so talk to people get down there and make it a proud fishery, it needs more people on it to work.

Why has he got grazing rights its a fishing lake not appleby horse fair. He has done a really good job of policing it? Half the stock were stolen over the last few years. He shows his face and may keep an eye on the odd car but apart from that ive seen him do very little. I was there 3 days a week the other year and he did not as me or anyone else for a book. While the horses are on the land he will put them where he wants

A lot of negativity on here.... Besides I don't think more members that don't fish there is what you needed.... The general consensus is to get a proper path round and leave the stock for a while (definitely a season or two) as they're doing really well. It's a proper carp water, let's not go down the route of manufacturing the place to suit the angler, let the angler adjust to fishing a harder water.....cheaper for the club. Besides it's rammed with fish. If you're in any doubt just walk round to the swamp when they spawn.

It's a beautiful lake, we all new that anyway. Some work on a path, especially at the muddier places, bit more control of the horses, you've already made a great start with that. Stocking, leave that to others to think about later, does it need some silvers maybe? It would be nice to get a few more anglers on there, but its obvious to me it's pretty good now. Nice to meet you by the way northface, hope you had some success.

I`m not actually a full blown carp fisherman just a pleasure angler but like a challenge but expected a few more members to be there,
so with only a few there on Saturday how many of the members are ctually interested apart from the people that already fish it.

Not at all johnboy..... Problem is at the minute you've only got the anglers that are willing to drag their kit backwards through the mud, put a 'proper' path round and everyone can have a go

Please bare in mind you had a meeting in November and it's a notoriously hard winter water, if you want to meet more anglers that fish there be best to wait till spring when it's busier but it sounds like you and jimmy will be fishing it anyway so you'll be able to get an idea of stocks etc then. Nice to meet you guys

This weekend I am fishing the forum match, but I will have a couple of free weekends after that. You can pm me if you like. Cheers Eddie.
