Do you really think pike fishing at knotford is a really good idea after all the recent talk about the condition of the pike? Just a fought!

I'm with you on that one loiner. I certainly wouldn't want to be catching starving pike (can't remember the quote on the thread) I've seen them before at nostel priory many years ago not a pretty sight. Mick.

The problem is, we get anglers alerting us the pike are in trouble, but of course that gets immediately contradicted on the forum, so all I am trying to do is meet and talk to as many anglers as possible and get a look at the pike, I have already spoken to about a dozen regulars, both carp and pike anglers and we've had plenty of opinion on here, but talking to the guys on there fishing, is proving the best source of info. I'm not saying that anything will be done to help the pike, but if I am going to stand up at a committee meeting and try and argue for some stocking, I need to be sure of what I am taking about and I believe talking to dranv8 will provide some accurate info. This will be my 4th visit and I have only fished on one occasion and never had a touch, so I don't think I have overly bothered the pike, just fed them a few freebie dead baits. But I take your point fish welfare comes first and that is something else that can be discussed at Leeds. Eddie.

Looks like the horses have been put back on. On both sides of the ropes.....so I guess the destruction of knotford via nag tooth is back on track. Nice to know the gypsy's are adhering to their side of the bargain..... Like f***! Give 'em an acre...... They'll take twenty. One more thing and not wanting to get at anyone here but I've noticed there's a lot of people saying that the horses keep the grass down.... I don't get it, is this just the biggest justification for keeping them on.... Why does everyone want cut grass? It used to be like a meadow......do people that like fishing no-longer like nature?? Posted a couple of pics here. I know which one I'd like to be fishing amongst. Horses off, members back......simples. Knotford east bank 6/7 years ago: Knotford east bank today:

My fort aswell north face, I used to be a member upto the late nineties and no horses in sight! The grass wasn't to much of a problem then as anglers and swans made enough of a path to get round! Iv been debating whether to re join Leeds as I loved to fish knotford! A bit unsure now as I'm not a fan of horses!

The horses don't bother you, they're just making one of the most beautiful lakes in Yorkshire look like a wasteland. Don't forget to take a course of steroids before trying to push your kit through a churned up mud bath

It was always a nice water, just don't really agree with Leeds having somebody having horses on there land as there own it! Especially if it's putting anglers off! Stinks of back handers to mate!

There mite be contradictory terms with the pike situation but the pictures iv seen on here of the pike looking well thin makes me rather upset to be fair, how would any decent pike angler target such a place? Needs a big shake up if you ask me!

Me and my mate are fairly new members of leeds and being keen pikers we were going to give knotford a go but don't think we'll bother now, last thing I want is to bother an already ailing pike. You guys seem to have a lot of respect for this place so hopefully something will be done to rectify any problems.....Kev

Come on commitee me and many have asked why the horses are there. Still no answers after 3 years. The gypsies have done nothing for the lake. Big chris the bailiff used to cut the grass twice a year it was never boggy as tbe grass drank excess water. The only time it was bad was after it flood

A clear set of rules specific to knotford are needed . Please don't go and start sculpting perfect swims with wood chip and sleepers its not that sort of venue . The cutting back and opening them up is needed as some have over grown . Some of the swims on the high banks could do with steps putting in to make them safer . Leave the stock of carp alone for a few years . Get the horses in check ..good luck with that one . Lift the ban on the use dog biscuits and 3 rods in the winter months . My advice would be fish the place before you start thinking you know what's best for knotford

Also a team of bailiff 4-5 strong who meet twice a month to discuss any problems / improvements that could take place from input from members . zero tolerance approach to anti social behaviour . Please no day ticket to random people, when they stopped day ticket i took a half a transit van full of rubbish away and its not returned . maybe a guest ticket at a fixed fee it would attract new members . I've mates who would jump at the chance to get a feel for the place before joining . 4 24hr per month per member ?
Regards Dan
