cracking fish there Ian, at a time when the river is struggling due to lack of water/flow you are doing very well

You are getting your fair share of helperby fish Ian, not too sure about the catering facilities though lol. Nice haul well done!
Eddie.

you've caught some nice barbel there ian and well done sir.i've caught countless barbel in my time my biggest being 9lb 12 oz from tadcaster a couple of years back on luncheon meat.bloody thing had me allover the place and took me almost half an hour to land after going deep a couple of times.good entertain for a dog walker who was stood behind me at the time watching. All the time i had it on i was thinking please god don't let it get off as i knew it was a good fish.(as we all do at times).the relief after it was landed and the jubilation when the fella in the next peg weighed it. steve.

Steve editing your post doesn't realy make things right here , no one on this site needs to prove they caught the fish they claim to have caught. But it's nice to see photos of good fish and fair play to Ian for sharing them with us. Negative comments are not realy welcome , grapes and sour are two words that that spring to mind. Regards Mick.

Said i would post the day ticket information for Helperby so here it is. Thanks for getting in touch. Tickets for the day ticket waters at both Helperby & Fawdington are available from the following:
Fish & Things tackle shop - Boroughbridge 8.30am Mitre tackle shop - Clifton, York 8.30am Peter Nelson Newsagent/Motor Mechanic - Main Street, Helperby - 8am York Tackle - Hull Road, York 8-30am Fawdington Grange Farm -Fawdington - 8am Beck Farm -Fawdington - 8am
Unfortunately, the Golden Lion pub has recently closed down. Peter Nelson mechanic is behind Oak house main street near the butchers if nobody at the house go round back and down lane 30yds. Anyway onto Fridays session, couldn't get day tickets as they had not left any with above lucky as pegs I wanted to fish were occupied!!! Went on own water no one else there Dad fished 1st peg on bend, Graham I'm sure he mentioned the one that got away to you on Friday evening. He had lots of small chub upto 1lb and dace 6-8oz when I was sat behind him the tip hardly stood still fished 3 caster on a size12. I fished last peg in rapids plenty of small dace on float and a few small knocks on ledgered meat. Moved into dads peg when he left tried lots of big baits to no avail, if I fished bread the bait didn't last long even had small fish having a go at the lumps of meat. Think I should have fish further down length. Eddie having looked a bit closer there are a few more pegs that could do with opening up around the bend as well as lower down, maybe another time though.

Unfortunately, the Golden Lion pub has recently closed down. Looking for new management. If anyone from Forum AC wants to take it on I'm sure some of us would make a small contribution to your £18,000 a year rent from Admiral Taverns PLC
