hello, firstly your work is appreciated by all and if i have taken your comments the wrong way i apologize. however on the subject of volunteers not turning out i don`t think you understand that some of us have morguages to pay and families to support before we start taking days off work unfortunately i think i speak for the majority when i say i am not a self employed tradesman earning £150 plus a day so cannot afford to take time off. so before you start to criticize please just take a second to conceder the people. maybe you would have got more volunteers if it was arranged for a weekend did you ever stop to think about that

If I had took a day off work today it would have cost me a lot more than £150 believe me. A weekend work party should be considered, or does Leeds match anglers club not consider that viable?

yeah true comments .....vic you volunteered to do what you did and yeah great you put something back into the club for the benefit of others as well as your self however would you have done the same for a venue of the club where you don`t fish regular?? maybe you shouldn't`t have VOLUNTEERED Vic if thats the way you feel. maybe the club should take a look at how these things are organized and yeah what if there was no match on a weekend so maintenance work is carried out big deal it would be a worthy sacrifice

i was'nt there and i apologize, but i will be out tomorrow doing my bit! and to answer a couple of the reactions to vics comments, all the lads on the working partys have mortgages as well! as for only doing venues you fish- what cobblers- and weekend and close season parties see exactly the same people turn out every time, so instead of justifying not helping out, take your hats off to the lads! without them where knackerd frim

to the three guests that didnt like my comment TUFF.im no diplomat like stan. ive been on working partys for 20+years weekends in the close season SO WE HAVE THOUGH OF THAT.and weekdays.as for only doing venues i fish regular i have done a lot of work pegging, stiles, road and car park repair, clearing swims, netting ect at the following VENUES dunsforth, aldwark, hunters lodge, linton, newton, nunmonkton, nidd mouth, poppleton, thorp underwood, easedike, tadcaster, ulleskelf, bolton clow, catterick, topcliffe, baldersby park, helperby, myton, hammerton, sandwath lake, knotsford, kippax pond, west haddlesly, thwaites mill ect ect ect i havent allways been selfemployed and i would take a days holliday to go. all i am saying is that all this moaning and criticism would be put to better use helping the working partys. if you have any spare time come and join the g.p. committee. i would like to thank all those that have helped . tight lines vic ps we are going next week any volunteers would be appriciated.x x x

oh here we go, somebody give vic a blue peter badge. if anyone is moaning here its you my friend. when the clubs web site was lauched a little while ago i thought it would be good to draw in new members but while there are ignorant members like you calling people for not volunteering then it is more likly to put people off joining... vic your attitude is appalling to say the least

Whilst I can understand that Vic feels fed up about the lack of numbers attending working parties he should realise that a large number of members clear swims frequently through the season. Not the wholesale butchering of swims I've seen from arranged parties, but making swims fishable with the minimum of disturbance. Most of us don't require a perfectly flat 3ft x 2ft area of mud to fish from and enough room to land a helicopter cleared for the array of tackle some bring to the bank.
Be a bit more considerate to the environment with the work done and there could well be many more prepared to make the effort.

have not been put off by vic saying there were no volunteers so you are wrong apples - it makes me feel like more of us need to help the club not to take umbrage. I have fished the Leeds waters for many years and would like to put something back in, without any reward. What have you got to offer? geoff
