I have followed the comments on here with interest. Why is this news to anybody ? It has been known about for a very long time. By all means comment but the right way to do this is via a delegate or at the very least turning up to a meeting and giving your informed opinion. Clubs are run via the people who are appointed to run them , not at the whim of people's wishes on a forum (which can be manipulated for and against without difficulty). I don't have any involvement with LDASA and fwiw have reservations about the proposal but if I had profound concerns I would have done something more than moan on here - and done so a long time ago.

Grayson, your points are fine and valid for the 428 attached members who will have a delegate to ask questions for them. But what about the other 1074 unattached members, this forum is the only platform they have to voice concerns regarding anything.

Didn't the delegates think this was a matter where as many views from members should be obtained as possible? Did no one suggest communicating with members via the Leeds DASA forum? Put away your dusty ledgers and get with the 21st century Leeds!

I have just read all of stan's posts to the forum members over the last 2 years - it wasn't easy. Not one single mention of the proposed hydroelectric scheme - doesn't that strike you as odd? Stan said we don't have to pay for maintenance so who pays for the thing if the company goes bust like many have before them? Also what is point of an access road and a hard standing area. Most people seem to cope with it fine as it is.

had to post about this, i live in hull and one of these electric type companies went bust and left an eyesore near the deep aqaurium for 2 years that the locals were totally sick of.secondly with something this important ALL members of leeds should have been sent a ballot type questionaire at the very begining to see how the grass root members felt. thirdly ok leeds might get some money back although that could be very little and a car park to save anglers walking not too far across a field big deal, how much will leeds lose in books sold if the fishing is affected in the long run, i for one only buy a leeds book for topcliffe . fourth , what an attitude to alienate oneself to other members of leeds to state that forum members dont mean anything to change decisions.fifth, this leeds and district commitee or decision makers seem to keep information and decisions so close to their chest its like dealing with mi5, be very carefull with your attitude leeds because i for one can fish the parish at topcliffe and with bradford city getting more waters not too far away i and others may get fed up the way you look at your members

Can somebody combine both threads on the topcliffe turbine. I think it would be far clearer if our posts weren't spread across two threads.

firstly have we got a time, date and place where the planning hearing is to take place and secondly does anyone wish to be forum spokesperson and attend the planning hearing to lodge our objections cos it seems we are on our own in this judging by stans posts on here the club want this to go ahead and us small people have to deal with that and lodge our own objections

We can get our opposition to this heard by writing a comment to the planning application at Harrogate Council here. Letters opposing the application are beginning to appear. Lets add plenty more. uniformonline.harrogate.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=neighbourComments&keyVal=N8I7ZXHY64000I am sure it would be worth letting them know that many Leeds anglers are against the proposal. One of the comments already there is interesting " The proposed site would mean that an active resting site for the local otters be destroyed which as again is stated in their own reports that this is illegal due to the resting sites been PROTECTED BY LAW" Maybe the otter is our friend after all!. It could be a good idea to contact Natural England about the proposasl.

thanks gcb my wife has just wrote a letter on the above link against this proposal, she too feels very strongly against this as we have family who lives in the village, the ones that she has talked to are against it and some of the locals have already complained or are about to complain. very easy to use the link, just join the link, they send you an email to you, click the link, then write a note of complaint on that proposal.

.....complaints against had to be in by August 21st he said he would let villagers know
Objections or comments to the Application seem to have to be in by 22 August, but there's some signs that it might be 29 August. It's being confirmed tomorrow in a meeting which the Topcliffe group is having with Harrogate planners. The villagers already know, believe me!! PS Just looked on the Harrogate Planning website. This now says "Standard Consultation Expiry Date: 2 September 2014". "Target Determination Date: 16 September" (that's the deadline by which they're aiming to make a decision, I guess). Just happens to be exactly 8 weeks from the date that the application was validated as meeting Planning Application requirements. And that might therefore mean it's a Minor application?
