RIVER NIDD PROJECT
Vice President is to visit the owner of the land at Skip Bridge next week with a view to moving forward on this project. First part of the plan is to install a new gate at the entrance to the field by the café followed by installation of a "hardcore path" across the field and hard standing for a car park near the river.
NEW WATERS
The club are in the imminent process of obtaining lease on 3 new short lengths of the Ure at Middleham - adjacent to existing lengths.
NOTIFICATION OF PROBLEMS ON OUR WATERS
Should anyone notice anything untowards on any of our waters (eg. The recent incident with the colour of the Wharfe) please report it to the club IMMEDIATELY so prompt action can be taken
LINTON ON OUSE
Working party has recently been to Linton and undertaken work. 20 tonne of new screed put down on access path
YEARBOOK CHECK
Random yearbook checks have been recently undertaken at several of our waters and all anglers approached were in possession of books.
SOCIAL CLUB
The social club (whos accounts are totally separate from the Angling Section ) reported a good 6 months set of accounts.
Surplus of £16,640
Bar takings £9488
Gross profit on bar takings £7511
Please note as members of LDASA you are also members of the social club on Stoney Rock Lane and have access to all the facilities and events. For those of you that have never been , there is a games room with 2 full size snooker tables, a concert room which regularly has "turns " on (that means a cabaret act to you Geordie lot !! ) and of course a vast array of fine wines and beers. Rooms can be hired for private events and organised events are also a regular occurance - trip to Christmas Panto coming soon !
KIPPAX PARK
The complex is fishing really well at the moment with last weeks winning match weight being 186lb !!! So those of you who enjoy commercial fishing - get yourselves down there while the fish are feeding. It's £4 if you have a Leeds book and £7 (I think) if you don't. There's not many places you will catch this amount of Carp for four quid !!!
KIPPAX PARK TUITON AND FAMILY FISHING EVENT
This event run over the past few weeks has been a massive success with over 270 children receiving tuition. A vote of thanks to all those voulunteers who kindly offered their services and helped with the event. A special thanks goes to Graham Whittaker - our Kippax Park regular - who has selflessly devoted a lot of time and effort into not only the day to day running at Kippax but whose efforts made this event such a success. Unfortunately, Graham is not so well at the moment after a long illness, we all wish him the very best.
KNOTFORD LAGOON OTTER FENCE
The final cost of the fence was £41168 of which £12000 was received as a grant
MEMBERSHIP
Unfortunately due to the Membership Secretary now working in partnership with Graham Park, to continue the duties of the resigned Treasurer , his priorities have been somewhat changed as the Financial Reports are to be collated. Apologies for no membership figures being available.
OFFICERS OF THE CLUB HONORARIUM
A nominal increase across the board has been implemented for all officers of the club. This increase is the first for ten years or so.
TOPCLIFFE HYDRO
A letter was received form a resident of Topcliffe expressing her objections to the proposed Hydro Plant Installation and requesting the club to consider its decision to allow this to go ahead.
A lengthy and emotive discussion ensued however the salient points are as follows :
1. The President confirmed that a Lease had been signed with UK Hydro giving them full rights to proceed with this project if Planning Permission is granted
Discussions took place offering opinions and merits both for and against the proposal but notwithstanding that , the lease has been signed and in order to move the discussion forward the President undertook to contact our solicitors and ask the following questions.
1. Can we back out of the lease
2. In the event that UK Hydro cease trading :
a) Will we still get our annual income
b ) Will the club be liable for any costs associated with subsequent maintenance / operation or other liabilities associated with the project
Meeting finished about 10 pm - went home with headache
