I also can't attend the meeting due to family and work commitments. Would very much like to see what happens tho? Perhaps they can be recorded and posted on this forum?! Anyway, it seems we all have one thing in common. That is to improve it. And to define an improvement it must take a majority to agree on specific proceedings. I have always wanted Knotford to become a syndicate but that doesn't look likely. I can accept that. There must be a decent alternative or all if this is for nothing. So what are the options chaps?

As jimmy says we have just had our first meeting after being accepted on the gp committee, we brought up the subject of knotford, we talked about a few ideas and agreed the first step is to have a good look at the place and see where the venue can be improved. So on behalf of the committee we are coming down to take a look, maybe take some photos and report back. The horses, the mud and access are all on the agenda, as is some work to open up some swims. Please will you let us know when you are doing this If possible please could you let me know when you are going down as if time permits I would like to come down and meet up with you guys, myself and my son fish it most weekends in the winter and on that side of things we could probably give you more of an insight into things. all the best

I don't see any reason why anyone interested can't be there, or give an opinion, so feel free. I think rushy and one or two others are going too. A week on Saturday looks likely, but as said someone will put the definite time and date on forum, just a case of a few phone calls to see what time is convenient for all. Eddie.

Well my view from the bivvy is that at least everyone's on the same page but please no more pegs and toilet blocks, the beauty of knotford is it natural theme.... Not many like that anymore!

Get down and fish it - winter through to summer for all species or get the ea to net it and evaluate the catch - much better than taking some photos eddie. You are looking at the lake from the wrong stance. Look what is there and can be built on rather than lets make this a such and such fishery - that has been tried before and failed !!! Not sure Jimmy would recognise a natural fishery - even if it got up and bit his bivvy slippers

I have had a walk round the venue this afternoon, not a single angler on the place. the photos are to take back to the g.p. committee to show what work may be needed. Catching fish will not help make the car park less of a puddle, but some evidence might get us some hardcore down. some of the muddier spots look like natural wet places, but the horses do churn them up a bit. As for fishing the place, I have done in the past, thinking of having a go for the pike on sunday and fishing it in spring before the rivers open. I have to say the place was not as bad as I was expecting and the two horses I saw were so small and timid an angry rabbit would have chased them off! It would be simple to keep the horses away from some of the narrower boggy spots by fencing at the choke points, as has been started allready. These are the only sort of changes I am looking at, with some improvment to access to the water in places. I did however have the pleasure of picking up two starbucks coffee cups in the carpark and a couple of cans as I walked round!

I must ask in the first place why all this fuss is being made of knotford. Why have none of the rivers neglected for years by the association come up?

Good point let's focus on rivers and stretches of them that are hard to get to and access swims. Or more focus back on Kippax and leave knotford alone ignore it and leave it to the ones that love to fish the place as it is. Let them worry about it and see what happens. Make the hard to reach parts of the rivers that people want to fish accessible.
