Hi all,
You may or may not be aware that funding has been agreed to update the website and the process is in the early stages.
If you know of or spot anything which you think needs updating / adding / amending can you please put it on here and I will ensure it is put forward for consideration to the contractor.
Wally has Started the ball rolling by pointing out that Widdington is in the book but not on the website
Cheers
Dave R

Hi Dave, the details of the fishing at Middleham need to be updated also. According to my source in the local club (Bolton AC),the left bank limit sign is misplaced. The length extends a further 3 fields down and finishes the field above Beggars Mouth Beck at Spennithorne.
Best Wishes Chris

Best Wishes Chris I half bow to your local knowledge, but from when I was there in April I am pretty sure that the 2 lengths aren't contiguous and that there's a gap of a field or two, then we just have the Spennithorne field from the Beck to the S***** Pool (sssh)

The limit sign in the tree on the right hand bend is from thingys days ............ I think I agree it needs to move a lot further downstream, but then there's a gap before the Spennithorne field, as described in the book anyway, and those were fresh new descriptions of the new stretches last season so are ahead of the signs and the map.

( seconds out, round one ) You're bound to get some irrelevant stuff & misunderstandings in a wide-ranging thread like this but it's a great idea - there will be very useful stuff as well about what is needed, and as the Middleham maps haven't been updated since the new lengths were added last autumn, this is surely a good reminder of that. Am I reading this correctly that you actually had a conversation with Dave where you suggested it was not a good idea to consult the members on this because 'they', the pesky members who pay for their yearbooks, might start to have a discussion? I'd assume that was tongue in cheek if it didn't seem so consistent with the way the amalgamation operates. And I must have missed the minutes of the meeting where it was put out that you were looking for someone to update the website as cheaply as poss.(or for free), and what the channels were for offering help with that. More consultation & more communication can only be a good thing. Some debate is inevitable and should not be taken as a mere inconvenience (nor taken personally by those respected individuals who do the thankless tasks within the patronising system).

Map of new Middleham lengths here is totally 100% accurate leedsdasa.proboards.com/thread/2317/3-new-lengths-middlehammap of old lengths here isn’t www.leedsdasa.co.uk/html/rivers26map.htmlthe old length goes one or at most two walls further eastwards along the north bank, a huge distance, cos they are huge fields, but it doesn’t go all the way to Beggar’s Mouth… not according to the description (I'll be glad to be proved wrong though as i loved roving up there and like the look of the bit that i think we don't have much more than I liked the new Spennithorne field (Stokesley AC till recently). it would be great if new maps were based on the type of to scale style shown on that first map, with all the field boundaries and rights of way shown, O/s style.

three more off the top of me head:
I think it's well known that there's a lot more in the book on the Lower Aire than is on the maps.
Another one is that we could do with a map showing where the downstream boundary is of the right bank stretch below Skip Bridge.
And another is to update the Derwent map, if necessary - I'm not sure - there seems to have been a great deal of discussion of what we do and don't have in recent years on here, it's different in the book from the map & when I went to Kexby I was well confused by what we do and don't have.

Hi Nige As Graham is probably very busy with the numerous other tasks he does 7 days a week on behalf of the majority of pesky members who just go fishing , thought I'd answer you r question. Yes , you are reading it totally incorrectly !!!! Graham and I haven't even discussed the new website , it was purely me thinking it would be a good idea to ask for observations and comments from the Forum members. Always dangerous assuming things , it's so easily to convince yourself there's something going on when there's not All the best Dave R

I think if we are updating the site following Yorks lead and keeping things in house and private by using membership numbers to log in has got to be the way forward ,,, That's the intention Chris
