Keep at it bl1ndfsh and change nothing, this blokes a muppet! Your posts and pics are great to read and like most anglers you are happy catching anything at this time of year let alone these cracking trout! Looking foreword to bumping into you on the bank, I'll be the one with a bucket of wasp grubs!!!! now theres a bloke with big cahoners tackling a wasp nest I remember going with a mate to get wasp grubs for fishing many many years ago. he swore by em are they still used much these days

Haven't used them for years either liptugga, though I'm sure they would still work a treat! Just my sense of humour saying I was using them to highlight gcbs remark about using proper chub baits! Personally I'd be on maggot n caster

I know my mate when i went with him was very coy about them being used at the time.
He looked at them as being a sort of magical bait and if he had an audience while banking a fish he would make sure his bait was not seen.

havent fished for chub for the last year or so (appart from the odd kamakazi one whilst fishing for barbs) but if i was id be trying to get hold of some grubs! chub are greedy, they love em. I suppose the problems in collecting them put most people off.

Steve Raper rang to say he was meeting Paul on the river, 20 mins later i walked onto the bank to this. Steve had already nicked Pauls rod for a chuck and was in. A two pounder was the start to a good couple of hours. Next it's Paul. Similar size. It would have been rude if i hadn't had a go. Big bait big hook. A few more fish, and about 20lb later the fish are out for a pic Stick em back While the net was out, Steve had a sneaky chuck and got one to finish with. Fished nearly every peg now from Kirkstall Rd down and i dont think theres a peg you cant catch a chub from. Steve
