There are some that would say no, its below the Leeds length, but I would appreciate a clarification from those that genuinely know. BOF

Hi
The Leeds length is from the first fence below south accommodation road bridge on the left bank down to the footbridge, then over the footbridge on the right bank down to Thwaites Mill weir, but this will all change when they take out Gibraltor island for the flood alleviation plan.

I was under the impression that the Aire from within the city boundary was like London and York, ie free fishing under common law, with the exception of the area around the entrance of the Aire and Calder Navigation, (which I understood to end at the weir above the Thwaites Mill weir), and ending at the city boundary below Leeds. Am I wrong in thinking this ? BOF

Hi Bof
Most of the fishing rights from Crown Point bridge down to Thwaites, both R. Aire and Aire & Calder canal belong to Canal & River Trust and as previously Leeds ASA have most of it and I am currently talking to them about the rest of it on both banks. Nothing is free just no one yet has a lease on it.

How about the river below Thwaites (both banks) ! The Skelton length looks to have a lot of potential. BOF

Below Thwaites on the right bank is not available as entry is through the mill area and grounds and the council will not allow this. On the left bank down to the road bridge is not accessable until you get around the nature reserve. Below the bridge we have a length on the right bank but I for once am not clear regarding the details, but I will read up on it and let you know.
