All this moaning and groaning,,,,, been there done that,,,
Got be banned for it off another forum,, and up in front of a committee of 30 blokes with my book in there hands,,,
All grilling me called me a pillock and wanted to know why I said this and that about a club they worked hard for.,..
I explained at the time why I was pissed,,, they was leaninet on me voted all in my favour to keep me in the club,,,,,
I changed my ways and thought what could I do for the club instead of what the club can do for me,,, now I'm a bailiff for a water I love,,, instead of preaching and being rent a cop I help out and advise people,,, who knows 1 day possibly the committee,,,,
What I also realised is the committee do a lot of work for the club behind the scenes,,, and that it's not so easy to do what we as members ask of them,,,
There have been several attempts at asking you lot as members to join the committee
SO GO JOIN
And change things,,,
Also you have to realise we are coming into a new age of fishing,,. Young blood like me and 99 percent of others want carp fishing and lake fishing,,, not no river or silly roach water,,,,
So this loosing of a river you all love for the 500k is probability a move they have had to under go to keep the club propt up for next 20 years or so,,,,,,,
It's not ideal no but let's face facts here it's only 1 water 1 stretch there's 100s other places to fish
It's either that or pay double bubble for your books from my experience the older angler is as tight as Arkwright,,,, in open all hours,,,, and complains about a messily £2 a year increase in book price,,,,
If you don't like it join another club or join the committee,,,, I've had similar gripes with other clubs about similar things and all this moaning won't change nuts ,,,,
Look at the finer things in life,,, you have a club,,, And capacity to JOIN another one
Mark my words in 10-15 years maybe less the otter and EU Freinds and new age carpers like me will not be interested in club efforts
And that will see a change,,,, and club will be out on it's ass
With only kippax complex left,,,,
Jimmy

At least two of the posters in this debate are delegates. I can assure you it is not a delegate that signs any contracts. Delegates represent their individual clubs. The general running of Leeds dasa is done by committee. Delegates get to vote on proposals on behalf of their club and pass or block them. And can only decide on the facts they are presented with at the time. That is why I believe this forum would be well used to inform members of such proposals as this scheme and test opinion! At least then non attached members get something of a voice too. But on topics such as this, information is key and the delegates have had little more than anyone else. It's only through the good work of certain posters that the pitfalls of such a scheme has come to light and the course of action needed to prevent it. So if you haven't already, and you oppose the scheme, get on Harrogate councils website and oppose it!

Never mind delegates ,I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the committee members Weren't stoking the fire on this thread mate !. It's good the forum can be used to oppose the scheme but to demand the heads of the blokes who have done good work for the club for years is another ball game altogether !! .

It is definitely not good work to take such important decisions without seeking the opinions of as many members of the club as possible surely. As I said I read stan's messages to the forum for the whole of the last 2 years. Why has he never mentioned such an important issue - when he clearly had an opportunity to mention this to attached and non attached members ( who make up the majority of members ) ? Maybe he will explain it to us ?

calling for the heads of club officials and bringing up the financial state of the club will not help get club officials on our side it will only make them more determined to carry this through at the end of the day we can make our argument without slinging mud all over the place i do understand the depth of feeling over this i myself are horrified at the thought of it going ahead i love fishing topcliffe and if it were ruined i would without doubt leave leeds dasa mind you im just small fry to the club but if more members contemplated doing the same then maybe thats a different story my advice to club is simple are you prepared to be the ones who are ridiculed in angling world for ruining what is a magnificent river if not stop this thing going ahead before its too late, on another note we live in a democratic country so why have all the unattatched members not had the chance to vote on this i have not recieved any information about a vote from the club not good

Iv been a member of quite a few committees over the years and I can tell you that the people that want the heads of the committee are normally the ones that disappear into the hedges when the committee jobs come up. The thing is if you don’t like the decisions the committee make complain and when nothing happens be willing to stand for and work on the committee.

As if they want members to have a say, they know full well what we will all answer, if it was put to a members vote I reckon 95% would say no, at least.
These schemes are ludicrous, all they do is power upto 30 houses, take 15 years to turn a profit, absolute joke the government are giving grants to build them.

Complaining about the the club isn’t the only way to go get on the Harrogate Council web site and place an objection.

There are currently 14 public comments on the Harrogate Council website, not enough by a long way, mine will be on shortly. If I've made a mistake and I have I am prepared to do everything I can to make it right.

I think you are clutching at straws springer. Don't make your decision until you have weighed all the evidence. Were you in the 12 angry men ?
