does not bode well for leeds members when out of season trout are proudly displayed, out of a keepnet by some guy doing the you tube thing. not doing this stretch or the sport any favours. attracts every man and his dog, certainly not portraying good angling.

i certinly wouldnt put grayling in a keepnet (or any out of season fish)? iv seen pros like dave harrell put barbel in a keepnet? when i fished it a few weeks back, i moved pegs after i caught the 1st trout, then moved again after the 2nd.

And I don't take my net when I'm barbel fishing or grayling fishing either ,but can't understand Johns statement would like him to explain because I have seen a lot more damaged fish on commercials than I have on a river. Cabbo

Can anyone confirm that our new bottom stretch* - which the yearbook says is the field behind the tiny Spennithorne sewage works - is the former Stokesley AC stretch ?
The reason I ask is because I'm planning a weekend up there soon, and to find out everything I can I've been reading old reports about the stretch from one of their members.
Also, I've noticed from photos on some of their old match reports from this stretch that they actually parked in the field behind the swims (entering by the gate from Millflats Lane by the sewage farm). Anyone know is that officially allowed? Google satellite also shows tyre tracks across the field to that spot.
Incidentally, to add to the above 'grayling in a keepnet' comments (personally I would never, knowing how delicate they are), I notice that Stokesley had their last match of the season every March on this stretch - "The Grayling Cup" - in which,as the name suggests, only grayling were weighed in, so plenty** of grayling in keepnets there (I also noticed a photo of tiny trout getting weighed in for a match result ...in late October).
* bottom stretch at the sewage works? Sounds appropriate.
** did I say 'plenty'? Well it looks like they didn't catch that many grayling there actually, but all of them went into keepnets, as of course they would for any match. Oh, and in case anyone gets excited by the old catch reports from there, the stretch doesn't sound easy at all and someone won one of their other matches one October with 2 minnows.

. attracts every man and his dog, . Pinuser1 just because of one angler stupidity of putting trout in is keepnet out of season and I'm hoping he can't of realised (which is no excuse) he surely wouldn't be proudly showing them off on video knowingly he's done wrong ,don't put us all in the same bracket. I'm sure some of the lads up that part of the world are glad a few more anglers are fishing the stretch in fact I know they are because one or two of the locals were worried Leeds were going to get rid of the stretch because of the lack of members using it ,and we don't want to be losing any waters do we bud as you bleating in the only other post you put on remember Cattrick once its gone its gone. Or are you another angler who thinks you have the sole right to fish the stretch and proberly the same hole time after time,Well bud has long as we buy the Leeds book were all entitled to fish it mate, Rushy can we have a forum meet up there bud its a lovely stretch just tell the lads to leave their dogs at home because don't want to step on anybody's toes

Sounds like a plan Andy . I'll look up some dates in February As regards the Grayling in keepnets , it's not illegal to put them in nets so it's just one of those personal choices. I actually took my keepnet Chub fishing yesterday to see if it made any difference to putting them back and potentially spooking any others in the swim. Kiss of death that idea . . . didn't get a bite in 4 hours

[/quote] Sounds good to me Dave I'm sure some of the lads will be up for it and has I have said in a earlier post I've never put a grayling in a keepnet. Oh but Dave I'm not one to preach about what can or can't be put in a keepnet its personal choice ,each to their own as long as its legal. And if this is good enough for the local angling club, let us who pinuser1 say's are ruining the stretch now join them. Except the trout PS Dave if you have a quite word with tom he might even video it for us
