Correct, I did ask for it to be removed but wasn't gonna get into an argument with tom cause he's a nice bloke and I enjoy chatting to him so wasn't worth falling out over. Rushy Wanted to try the stretch and invited me along so I went and I wasn't in his swim if you look at video properly he's in his usual swim? Me and Dave roved the stretch with the stick float and feeder and I found a deep hole where I was along with some fish. Video doesn't show the full story so don't assume Unfortunately it's not a crime to film someone in public so what can I do

Ian, where did I say this was aimed at you? Like I said some people use his videos religiously and will go down the day after a video and fish the pegs.
I only started barbel fishing 2 years ago, and yes I get help cause 2014 was my first proper season, but I put leg work in, walk banks, rove stretches etc and it paid off massively cause I landed a few Swale doubles in Unfished pegs last year.
Each to there own really isn't it mate, if you wanna use videos etc that's perfectly fine, alls I did was state my opinion, obviously not everyone is gonna agree. If you take it personally then what can I do
Anyway said all im gonna say, so I'm gonna end it there

it's because you wanted the club to stop tom from making his vids that has annoyed me.

Can anyone confirm that our new bottom stretch* - which the yearbook says is the field behind the tiny Spennithorne sewage works - is the former Stokesley AC stretch ? The reason I ask is because I'm planning a weekend up there soon, and to find out everything I can I've been reading old reports about the stretch from one of their members. Also, I've noticed from photos on some of their old match reports from this stretch that they actually parked in the field behind the swims (entering by the gate from Millflats Lane by the sewage farm). Anyone know is that officially allowed? Google satellite also shows tyre tracks across the field to that spot. Finally made it to marvellous magical medieval Middleham for three days in search of brownies, so I just thought I'd answer me own questions which I left hanging there a couple of moths ago: Yes it is the former Stokesley AC stretch. And no you can't park in that field. Spoke to the owner who said there were some idiots from Stokesley who used to drive through his feed crop when they had a match on, telling him 'it was just grass'.

I'm looking forward more and more to a weekend in Middleham..... keeping it very much "in my system" until I know that me system won't be freezing its thermostat off. Looking at the layout of campsite, village pubs, river, castle, stables, etc I know I can get my better half to really fall in love with this place as long as I don't blow it by going there when it's freezing or p*ssing down. couldn't have timed it better, arriving with the cracking weather over Easter, probably the best time of year for views of the river and from the river, amidst the spring lambs, the incredible birdlife, the decent country pubs, it was just a pleasure to be on and around the river ... harder to catch the brownies on worm than I thought (just had four between us all weekend) and some swims plagued by minnows, didn't see any other species, and as anticipated we're both totally in love with the place.

I came back an hour and a half later having now walked and fished the length from end to end . . . I walked it end to end and fished about 15 swims over 3 days, and my favourite place, though we blanked there, was the field inside the 'S' bend about 600 yards above the bridge - so much variety of water in the banks of one field! Very much summer fishing though, or at least non-spate fishing anyway, cos you'd have to be travelling light and you'd want dry banks. Magical place. Felt very privileged to be there. only saw a couple of other anglers and only saw just the one fella who didn't look like he was specifically targetting the trout (2 leger rods, heavy gear, trolley). should have had a word maybe, but the place was too perfect for any sort of disharmony.

Should have had a word definitely -well i would have a walk over see if there are maggots etc. As has been said

A bit extreme for your experience I know but I hope you see some significance.

Apart from maybe asking politely to see his book, I don't think there's much else you could do. If blatantly breaking rules and you had a look at his book, remember a name then you could report it, but please don't get involved in any aggravation when on the banks! I have been checking books on Leeds venues lately and so far haven't encountered a problem, no rules being broken, all in possession of books and quite happy to have a chat and show their books to the bailiff. There are others doing the job too, so I would just leave it until his path crosses one of the bailiffs and let us deal with it. Obviously this length might benefit from a visit!

'so I would just leave it until his path crosses one of the bailiffs' As a Leeds member for over 20 yrs I was asked for my book 3 times - all at one venue! I'm sure poachers will be well happy to wait for a bailiff - who will probably give them a severe letting off with that attitude imho ! Show some teeth otherwise you will be made to look stupid ! I am a member of many clubs but when I am trout fishing in the close season and see anglers ledgering on the rivers I show them my membership book and I ask them what species they are fishing for and outline the rules if they don't seem aware of them. I would ask them to stop fishing if they are not following the rules. Not sure what is difficult about that !

Show us your pass Geoff You know the leeds pass for 2015 which also covers you for membership to this forum Oh yes you don't have one Lay off the bailiffs they do a thankless job they don't need you getting at them for trying to keep a member safe by suggesting he leaves the bailiffs to do their job.

As a new member you would do well to check your facts out mate before you get shirty. You do not need to be a member of Leeds DASA to be a registered member of the forum !

Geoff I can only remember having my book checked once, at pool. While waters have their own watchers, river venues have been poorly policed and the surprise on anglers faces when checking books tells its own story. But it is going to happen more. The GP committee have been down in number's for years, now we have a few more members, we have more bailiffs, all I do is check books while fishing, simple but effective! But it's a great idea if members notice a particularly problem they can point it out on here, so at least we can identify areas to look at. The forum having a positive use!

I would like to join you in your work one day Eddie but as you know I can no longer support the club while it is run by unelected officials that show no interest in securing the opinions of as many members as they can and do not embrace the improved communications that the internet can provide between the officials and members and vice versa. And one that seems- in my opinion- to lurch from one ill thought out decision to another as a result in their failed communication. But me saying this doesn't matter - I really do think they don't give a s**t ! geoff
