Is it a concrete screed that's getting laid under the bridge or are you just hardcoring over the Rugged ground ? Cheers Just scalpings Chris I believe, just to flatten it out. Having said that I don't really know what scalpings are . Small gravelly bits I assume ?

I can't promise a full day coz there's not enough days in the week for me lately but as I'm a partner in a paving firm with all the tools I am willing for me and my lad to call in the afternoon for a couple of hours after work in the pick up to level and whack it down or even barrow it in if it's only 2 or three tonne no problem just let me know . Cheers Chris Thanks a lot Chris , most appreciated mate. We've got the Delegates meeting tomorrow so we will be finalising the plans then , either at the meeting or I will tie in with The other committee lads who are involved. Will obviously post the days plans on here. Cheers bud Dave R

What sort of start and finish time are we looking at for this Dave? Half 8 start mate and finish when you've had enough. I had a walk along the length on SUnday and it really isn't all that bad. The balsam is only a few inches high and the path we made through last year is still evident. I think we should be done in time for a quick complimentary beer and a bag of crisps in the Aloce Hawthorn not long after one ish . . . . Followed by a two hour social at Moor Monkton I've actually got the FMC meeting on Thursday when I can discuss the plans for the scalpings with Frim and Paul so I will post a more detailed intinerary then along with what to bring etc All the best Dave R

The plan of attack is as follows : Frim and a few lads are going to get the scalpings laid under the bridge through the week ready for us to access the river on Saturday. (Chris, I will let you know if we need your kind offer of assistance with the finishing process on the scalpings on Saturday ) The plan for Saturday is as follows : Meet in the layby near the café at 8.30am. Drive / walk up to the beginning of the stretch - approx. 600 metres ( 2 good 3 woods ) One strimmer and peg team walk up to the far end of the length where the outlet pipe is (approx. 20 minutes walk ) and start to strim and work their way back. The fishy looking pegs are easy to identify (unless you are Shane and he cant spot a Carp location if they are splashing their tails at him and rolling on the top ) so its just a matter of strimming all the way along the bank and then down to the pegs. As strimming progresses we can then follow on with preparing access to actually get to the river and fish. We don't need any JCB type excavation , just levelling the bank out next to the river enough to take a box or someone sat on an unhooking mat. I did notice one or two really nice looking swims which you cannot access due to the very high banking. These might be worth trying to develop access. Hopefully we should meet in the middle about lunchtime. Equipment : On the last count we had 3 strimmers. If the guys that have them can bring them that would be fantastic. Im also assuming you have the relevant safety PPE so don't forget that ! If you have one, please bring a spade to prepare the pegs. We could also use the following if anyone has them : A sledge hammer ANDY P A few pieces of post (3 x 3 ) or something similar - any old stuff will do . This is for putting posts where the pegs are so they are easier to find come August time . PAULYBOY A tin of yellow or bright paint to paint the tops of the posts (again any old stuff you have laying around will do and one of those brushes you forgot to clean and its now rock hard in the jam jar A wheel barrow ANDY P Tree pruner / saw - PAULYBOY If you can confirm on here what you can bring and then I will rustle up everything else. And that's about it. Im going for a quick pint afterwards at the Alice hawthorn if anyone fancies sampling the fine ales - I don't think they sell Fosters though I don't know if anyone does fancy an hour or so at Moor Monkton Pools after but we could maybe have a small competition or something (2 man teams on a peg each - one rod - alternate fishing - first to catch 4 fish or something ? . . or any other ideas PS. Nearly missed the important bit. Could everyone please bring a litre or more of water with them

Probably on train to Hammerton & bike for this so will just bring a spade & maybe loppers (plus tackle for M. Monkton)
[And I'll get me excuses in early for my workrate but my hand has ended up under someone's footy boot during one of my world famous sliding tackles the other day... I might have to do everything wrong-handed!]
Oh and for what it's worth on me first time at Moor Monkton (must remember to get the permits this week at the club) I'll be happy just to catch a fish - never caught a carp me (to be honest I've never really wanted to til now) so no competitions for me just some advice maybe!

I can probably source a strimmer, do we need another? Do we need chest waders is there anything that needs cutting back in the water? Will chuck the other bits and pieces in the car, you know water and water bombs etc.
Eddie.
